These lectures, established in 2013 by the AOS Council, are delivered at the Annual Meeting. The topic is of the presenter’s choice and should be an overall perspective of a particular subject. A manuscript may be prepared in conjunction with the lecture which will be published in the Transactions of the American Ophthalmological Society. This lectureship is designed to be renamed every few years by vote of the Council.
This lecture, is named in honor of Marilyn T. Miller, MD, who was a skilled clinician and teacher. Dr. Miller inspired many as a leader and a mentor, and she embodied the spirit of the AOS.

This lecture was named in honor of Fredrick C. Blodi, MD, who served as Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Iowa for 45 years. In that capacity, he recruited and promoted talented students and faculty, enjoying their individual successes. Dr. Blodi embodied the spirit of the AOS. This lectureship honored a mid-career AOS member.
