Representative to ACS

American College of Surgeons Representative

Statement of Representation:

The American Ophthalmological Society (AOS) has one representative to the

American College of Surgeons (ACS). There is an alternate representative to serve if the principal representative is unable to attend meetings as required. The term of these representatives is determined by the ACS. The member must be in active good standing with both the AOS and the ACS.

Duty of the Representative to the ACS:

The representative of the AOS to the ACS is to attend the annual meeting of the American College of Surgeons in the fall of each year. In addition, other special meetings may be called. The representative sits on the ophthalmic advisory section of the College and must attend their scheduled meetings.

Required Reports:

The representative is required to send a written report of proceedings of the meetings of the ACS to the AOS that are pertinent to ophthalmology and the

AOS specifically. This report is sent in time so as to be incorporated in the annual reports of the AOS. Although the ACS does not require reports of the AOS these have been sent to the ACS for their records.
