Michael Brodsky published the third edition of "Pediatric Neuro-Ophthalmology" (Springer), a magnificent single-author opus on the subject.

Bita Esmaeli received the 2016 Women in Ophthalmology Honorary Lecture Award. This award is given to honor an individual who is a leader in ophthalmology and who has contributed to the profession as an educator, researcher and/or humanitarian.

C. Stephen Foster endowed The Stephen and Frances Foster Professorship at Duke University Department of Ophthalmology in Ocular Immunology. Dr. Foster also endowed The Stephen and Frances Foster Lecture, an annual lecture at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting on the subject of Ocular Immunology.

Tamara Fountain was honored as "distinguished alumna" at 2016 Doheny Days meeting.

Karl Golnik received the International Gold Award from the Chinese Ophthalmology Society, which recognizes the international ophthalmologist making significant contributions to ophthalmology in China.

Mark Humayun was awarded the National Medal for Technology and Innovation by President Obama at the White House on May 19, 2016 in recognition of his work on the retinal prosthesis. The ceremony can be viewed at http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QAqcffjZK1Y

Martine Jager is a member of the team working on The Cancer Genome Atlas project for uveal melanoma, a multi-center worldwide study analyzing the basis of metastatic spread of this malignancy.

Paul L. Kaufman will receive the Jonas Friedenwald Award at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meeting in 2017.

Douglas Koch will deliver the 2016 Edward Jackson Memorial Lecture entitled, “The enigmatic cornea and intraocular lens calculations”.

Richard A. Lewis received on July 22nd the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias’ (NFED) Outstanding Service Award for his significant contribution to the ectodermal dysplasias community. The NFED commended him for his 22 years of service at its 35th Anniversary Celebration Dinner at its annual Family Conference.

Alan Robin will receive the AAO Life Time Achievement Award at the 2016 meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Hugh Taylor has been elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.
